Hey kitty kats....Been a little hiatus here at the blog due to work and vacay. But I miss my writing and have lots of news stories waiting to be written. ✍️

But I would be amiss if I didn't mention next weekend at The Stony Pony I am beyond excited that my guys, Stretch & The Armstrongs, are opening for the one and only Super 70's Rock Show featuring Super Trans Am!! 🤘I mean, how cool is that?! And this isn't the first time they are doing this - this will be the second! It's going to be an amazing night of ridiculously good music from two of my favorite bands.

In case you forgot, I wrote about Stretch back in August - but why I love them extra special is because they are one of the bands I do bookings for - in fact, they are the first ones The Flying Garter started to work with. In July, you got to meet bass player Frankie Italiano from Stretch. '🎸

Today, you get to know lead singer, Tommy Pasko, a little better. 🎤

Without further ado, the super talented Tommy Pasko of Stretch & The Armstrongs...

About Tommy

Tom grew up surrounded by music—his father played drums in cover bands for as long as he can remember. Discovering his own gift for singing, Tom joined his first cover band, Worlds Collide, in his early twenties, and still performs with them today. His love for music and the local scene pushed him to connect with other talented musicians, which eventually led him to Rocco Monterosso and the formation of Stretch and the Armstrongs.

While music is his true passion, Tom’s full-time roles include high school computer science teacher, husband, and father.

TOP 5 Singers:

5. Thom Yorke (Radiohead) - There is not another singer on this earth that sings with the same amount of emotion as Thom. This pick may surprise many of you, but you can’t help but feel every lyric he sings.

4. Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam’s Ten is the first album I purchased on my own at Vintage Vinyl in Fords (RIP). I was blown away by what I heard. No matter what Eddie is singing, right away you recognize it’s his voice. I spent most of the 90’s trying to sing like him.

3. Steve Perry - A vocal GOD. He sings every high note with ease. Listen to Mother, Father and you can hear his range on full display.

2. Otis Redding - Otis was gritty, and soulful, known for his raw power, emotional intensity, and a unique blend of gospel, rhythm and blues, and soul music. I can remember wanting to imitate him as a kid and destroying my voice trying to sing with rasp and soul...belting Try a Little Tenderness and Love Man in the shower.

1. Freddie Mercury - Do I really need to say why he’s my number one??....

Thank you to Tommy for sending over his Top 5. Catch his vocals onstage next week at The Stony Pony before the tickets sell out. I must say, Tommy has a fantastic range himself and can belt out some Steve Perry and Freddie Mercury tunes that will have you wishing you'd come to see Stretch sooner.

Catch more Stretch!

I know this blog is typically about and for the NJ cover band scene for the most post. But I wouldn't be doing my due diligence as a music blogger if I didn't mention a major loss in the rock 'n' roll
