Earlier this month, I announced that Flying Garter would be working with Generation Next - a rockin', fresh-faced cover band playing music that spans "generations...."

But who are they? Let's get to know Generation Next my little kitty kats....

How did the band first come together?

Ava, Eitan, Shai and Dom all knew each other from going to college. Ava knew Kristen and James from attending a music school in their hometown. Ava had a random thought in the car to start a cover band so she reached out to everyone and they were all interested! Never thought that it would be as great as it is now. She is so happy it turned out the way that it did.

Where did the band name come from?

The band name came to be because of our idea to hit every decade of music to appeal to all generations of people.

Who were your musical influences as a group?

We all have loves for different types of music which is why we decided to just play all of them. Between all of the decades of music there’s at least one of us who loves it.

How would you describe the band?

We are a cover band from NJ that plays music from all the decades in order from the 60s to the current. All of us are multi-instrumentalists, so we tend to switch around instruments throughout our sets.

Who's in the band?

Ava Panza on vocals, guitar and keys

Dom Depaz on vocals, guitar and keys

Kristen Wilczewski on vocals, guitar and keys

Shai Rodriguez on guitar

James Hoffman on bass

Eitan Ofeck on drums and vocals

How would you describe your live show to someone who’s never seen you?

Catch a lot of surprises, between our drummer hopping on lead vocals. One of our lead singers Ava switching to drums, keys and guitar and Dom and Kristen switching off between keys and guitar as well. You can even catch Shai and James switching between guitar and bass.

What’s been your most memorable show so far?

Our most memorable show so far was selling out Arlene’s Grocery in NYC. It was our first time playing in NY and it was a great first show in the state.

How do you feed off the crowd’s energy during a performance?

We love an interactive crowd. Two of our singers, Kristen and Dom, and bassist James, always go out into the crowd throughout the set with either percussion or just to jam out with the fans.

If you could tour or open with any band (past or present), who would it be?

Honestly, probably one of the super known cover bands like “Almost Queen” or the “Get The Led Out” Zeppelin tribute band.

What’s next for the band in the coming year?

Catch us playing even more shows down the shore and making our way more north for our fans up there. And hopefully some casino shows too! New cover songs on the way, we listen to our fans!

Are there any dream venues or festivals you want to play?

We dream about playing in casinos, weddings and venues such as Jenkisons, Martells Tiki Bar and Bird & Betty’s.

Recently I saw a post on social media naming the “must-see” bands in NJ for 2026. It even went on to say it was the “ complete ” guide to NJ’s best cover bands and bar bands. The “DEFINITIVE” guide.
