It was a "Yacht" Lobster....
Earlier this month, Jtweets convinced Cha Cha to give yacht rock another chance. I had my doubts as the last time we did this over the summer at The Stone Pony it was wayyyyyyy too crowded and the army of captain's hats was giving me an eye twitch. But since this time it was at the the world famous Wonder Bar (one of Cha Cha's favorite venues), I was game - but you will NOT be seeing me in a captain's hat ever.
On a cold and bitter December evening, The Flying Garter checked out the Yacht Lobsters - NYC's answer to Yacht Rock. All I can say is.....rock the boat baby. These guys and girl were rocking it! We LOVED IT!!! They were so fun and energetic and entertaining! Super talented musicians! We were loving on the playlist and the costumes too.
They played such an awesome variety of music from the expected 70s/80s yacht rock standards to fun TV theme songs (moving on up to a deluxe apartment) to...wait for it... DISCO!!!! One of Cha Cha's fav fav genres of music. I can listen to 70s disco music for days. We definitely had on our boogie shoes that night.
One of the highlights of the evening was a special guest appearance from The Village People's Felipe Rose who jumped on stage to sing a song with the band!
We had so much fun with this band! I cannot wait for them to make a return to the Garden State. Check out our Instagram to see some of the videos from the night!
Til then...get down and boogie oogie oogie....
